We had to again, create textures except this time, they had to develop into a gradient

(Ex 2) Applied 3 gradient textures onto model
(Ex 2) Light rail renders (lumion + c4D)
Renders
Our main renderer is supposed to be Lumion, however i find myself being better at Cinema4d's rendering system as its more diverse and complex.
My statements that i followed from first lesson is
" Repetition with consistent alteration delivers freshness and uniqueness to design"
" Repetition of sections and segments that follows a curvature allows for a fluid combination of sharp angles and soft bends"
Where essentially i created a sense of motion and force ( as which the nature of trains/ light rails posses). I used basic geometric shapes of rectangles to depict motion and curvature which is the biggest feature of my design.
I knew motion would also come in hand with the slimness and lengthiness of the design (ie a bullet). and so i tried restricting the design to only expanding the length and height. I always wanted to keep the design to a minimal level as gives off a modern and light feel ( which suits motion quite well).

Cinema 4D renders
I also added more colours and textures such as the transparent reds of the stacking of rectangles
(ex 2) Short statments on architects
Mad
- - The success of design is made through free-form and biological themes
- - Repetition with consistent alteration delivers freshness and uniqueness to design
- - The use of curves to represent organic forms, modern architecture being a derivation from evolution and nature
- - The use of Undulating lines is contrasted to vertical structures to create a sensory experience
- - The minimalist of design especially regarding colour and tone, is a transport for complexity and adaptation to the urban environment
Alvar Alto
- - The use of geometric facades and exteriors to enhance the overall design of the building
- - Primitive shapes are developed into more wholesome and complete ideas when intertwined with the rest of the form
- - The prominence use of Boolean and extrusion from base flat surfaces to create as opposed to using conventional addition and morphing of shapes
- - Wooden interiors to contrast white smooth exteriors to enhance each components individual appeal
- - Repetition of sections and segments that follows a curvature allows for a fluid combination of sharp angles and soft bends
(ex 2) Axonometrics, parralel projections
Axonometric:
"using or denoting an orthographic projection of an object, such as a building, on a plane inclined to each of the three principal axes of the object; three-dimensional but without perspective." Dictionary.com
Goal:
Was to use rectangles to hand draw "axonometric" perspectives, of 2 views. 1 is normal, the other is twisted, and then flipped

A basic composure of rectangles, first attempt at axonometric
Another attempt of just basic rectangles
A more compact and more attempts are creating the interlock illusion
Now trying to think more creatively the placement of the shapes
Then trying to warp the grid more, and create shapes that are warped
I was given the challenge to create curves except by not using curves, hence..
And as i got better at drawing axonometrics, my designs started to look cleaner and easier to understand
And finally i got bored with my ideas, so i decided to do something different
Afterwards
We were given the task of combining 2 designs and creating a 'parralel projection' of them.

Animated scenes
Due to my computer being unable to handle (convert and import) my actual rhino model into sketchup to animate, i had to use my draft building as my only option of creating an animation.

Polished main building design
The design was quite spontaneous and crazy ( extremely impractical in design). When i hear the word "swirls" i think of nature and root systems, where very unpredictable and constantly 'growing'. The one problem of roots is that they are very impractical to live in (due to their cone like construction) hence why my building looks like how it does... Besides that, the stair case is enshrouded by a heavy layer of roots where each root suspends each stair case via cables. This creates the feeling of overwhelming as the slow swaying movement will cause unease.

The underground has the word (rest), as the 'ball' structure is suspended by chains and cables, to suggest its resting. again, the idea is quite impractical but its unique. |
The previous Images were the beginning renders of the structure. After reconsidering material and fixing small aspects,

Draft Building
2nd building design (draft)
Inspired by Frank Gehry, i wanted to create a weird axis'd structure as his style is very distinctive, and the base structure of the top is a repeition of the similar shapes but varied in size (hence accumulative). The bottom (underground) idea is just a stack of disk like shapes, a simple but unique idea.
The upper structure, due to it being made with so much glass, gave it a lot of potential for interesting lighting, hence why i rendered the building in 2 different lightings ( atmosphere, and lighting setup)
Words: - Distinctive (Magnus Walker),
- Accumulative (Issey Miyake)
